Our New Summer Menu Has Arrived

  Celebrate the season with our vibrant new summer menu, thoughtfully created by Head Chef Ivor and his talented team. Showcasing the finest locally sourced ingredients from surrounding farms and estates, each dish captures the fresh flavours and colours of summer.

From light seasonal starters and fresh seafood to expertly grilled meats, indulgent desserts and our much-loved Sunday roasts, there’s something for every occasion.

New Lunch & Dinner Menu

Begin your meal with one of our delicious new starters; relish the taste of the seaside with our new Handpicked White Crab Tian, pomme dauphine, micro salad and tomato oil, or really get that summer feel with our refreshing White Balsamic Compressed Watermelon with feta cheese and avocado purée.

No summer is complete without that barbeque flavour, so savour our succulent BBQ Glazed Pork Belly served with pineapple salsa, bok choi, furikake and chilli – not only is it gluten-free and dairy-free, but also available in a larger portion so you can enjoy it as a lighter main course, or why not add some Triple Cooked Chunky Chips and make a real meal of it?

We offer a range of main courses to suit your mood and taste.  Treat yourself to something a little special, like our outstanding Roasted Duck Breast served with duck croustillant, heritage beetroot, hazelnuts and a  madeira jus, or our delicious Darne of Wild Turbot with shellfish bisque, parmentier potatoes, mussel, air dried cherry tomatoes, rock samphire and lemon oil – a culinary celebration of the sea.

Our Bang Bang Cauliflower with cashew mayonnaise, puffed black rice, sauté shiitake and king oyster mushroom, pickled shallots and herb oil, and our Wild Mushroom Risotto topped with toasted pine nuts, parmesan scraps and rocket cress are both suitable for vegetarians and vegans and are available as gluten and dairy free. A perfect serving on a summers day.

Looking for something a little more meaty? Then our new Grilled Bavette Steak served with short rib and Monterey jack macaroni, salad wedge, cob dressing, crispy onions and café de Paris butter should hit the spot!  Or choose from a 10oz Sirloin Steak, 10oz Ribeye Steak, Pork Tomahawk, Barnsley Lamb Chop or Beer-Brined Chicken Breast cooked to perfection on the grill and all served with triple cooked chunky chips, home-smoked cherry tomatoes on the vine, rocket salad with ranch dressing and one of our homemade sauces or butters – all included in the price. Now that’s a grill-iant deal!

New Sunday Lunch Menu

All our new starters are also available on our new summer Sunday Lunch Menu, including our sensational Chicken Satay Skewers with peanut sauce and pickled cucumber salad and our Gin Cured Salmon served with passion fruit, orange, red vein sorrel, both of which can be upgraded and both showcasing the zesty flavours synonymous with summer.

Our Sunday Menu offers our popular Traditional Sunday Roasts featuring locally sourced meat from independent family-run butchers all served with crisp roast potatoes, roast parsnips, roasted glazed carrots, seasonal green vegetables, cauliflower cheese, impressive Yorkshire pudding and roast gravy (Vegan gravy served with ‘The Black Horse’ Nut Roast).

Not in the mood for a roast dinner? Then why not enjoy one of our other firm family favourites, like our incredible Homemade Chargrilled Burger made with homemade beef patty, black garlic burger sauce, maple glazed smoky bacon, artisan cheese, baby gem lettuce, beef tomato, gherkin and red onion in a toasted local-baked sourdough bun, served with house slaw and french fries, or our impressive ‘The Black Horse’ Beer Battered Fish & Chips, sustainable fillet of haddock in a crisp gluten-free beer batter, triple cooked chunky chips, minted crushed garden peas, tartare sauce and grilled lemon.

Our chefs also offer a special Fresh Fish Of The Day served with suitable accompaniments depending on  the catch of the day.

New Dessert Menu

Our new summer Dessert Menu is bursting with stunning summer ingredients sure to tantalise those tastebuds! So grab a spoon and sample one of our delectable desserts, such as Raspberry Clafoutis with raspberry sorbet and homemade English custard and our new Gypsy Tart with crème fraiche sorbet and a burnt orange puree.  And nothing says summer like a Peach Trifle made from a clotted cream sponge and a lemon thyme cream.

Searching for something sumptuous?  Then delve into our decadent Warm Chocolate Brownie served with chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream, or crack into the crisp golden top of our Cardamom Crème Brûlée served with a homemade coconut shortbread.
