Whatever the weather this summer, taste the sunshine at The Black Horse with our stunning new seasonal menus!

Lunch & Dinner Menu

Brimming with sensational summer flavours, the new dishes on our Lunch and Dinner Menu are created using fresh seasonal ingredients.  Try our one of our tasty new starters, like our Hillside Market Garden Beetroot (sourced from a local Gravenhurst farm) served with with feta, ruby chard and a toasted hazelnut and shallot dressing and our new Octopus Salad with mango mojo dressing, endive leaves, radish and coriander is guaranteed to give you that summer vibe! Both dishes – along with our other exquisite new starters –  are available to up-grade to a lighter main course, or why not add a couple of sides to make a real meal of it?!

Our new Summer mains include delicious dishes such as Pork Tenderloin with king oyster mushroom, Jerusalem artichoke, broad beans, purple spring onion and a madeira jus, and Wild Halibut Fillet with blackened baby gem wedge, Caesar dressing, smoked anchovies, pancetta crisp, free range egg and croute, perfect on warm summery days.

We also cater for individual dietary requirements, and many of our dishes are suitable or can be adapted for diners with Gluten or Dairy allergies/intolerances, like our new Air-Dried Vine Ripened Tomato Risotto with charred courgette, pecorino flakes and rocket leaves, which is not only suitable for vegetarians and gluten free, but can also be adapted to vegan and dairy free without compromising on quality and flavour.

Love a barbeque? Then our ‘From The Grill’ section of our menu is perfect for you! Offering 10oz Steaks, Pork Tomahawk and Beer-Brined Chicken Breast all cooked on our grill and served with triple cooked chunky chips, home-smoked cherry tomatoes on the vine, rocket salad with ranch dressing and a choice of sauces – all included in the price.

Sunday Lunch Menu

For many of us Sunday wouldn’t be Sunday without a Traditional Sunday Roast, so of course these are available on our new Sunday Menu!  Choose from Sirloin of Beef, Leg of Lamb, Loin of Pork and Chicken Supreme – all locally sourced from independent butchers – or our vegetarian Nut Roast (adaptable to vegan), all served with roast potatoes, roast parsnips, roasted glazed carrots, seasonal green vegetables, cauliflower cheese, Yorkshire pudding and roast gravy or vegan gravy.

But it’s not all roasts – alongside our popular Homemade Chargrilled Burger and the impressive ‘Black Horse’ Beer Battered Fish & Chips, we also offer our chef’s Fresh Fish of The Day, which changes each week depending on the catch! Our new starters can also be ordered as a lighter main so you can enjoy Smoked Haddock & Cheddar Gorge Rarebit with Heritage and Marzano tomato and red onion salad and parsley oil or for a lighter option try our  Super Food Salad with fennel, broccoli, red onion, spiced nuts and seeds finished with a green goddess dressing – so fresh!

Dessert Menu

Round off your meal with one of our delectable desserts. Fancy something fruity? Then how about trying our new Vanilla & Thyme Roasted Peaches with local honey and lemon thyme sabayon and honeycomb ice cream.  Or do you prefer your desserts a little more decadent? Then our Whisky & Chocolate Delice with fior di latte ice cream, caramel and candied pecan nuts should cure the cravings!
