New Autumn/Winter Menus
Available From Thursday 25th September 2025

As you button up your coats and swap out your sandals for boots, there’s no denying that autumn has arrived. But just because the weather may be cold and wet, that doesn’t mean your spirits have to dampen – here at The Black Horse we embrace the autumn and celebrate the tasty new ingredients this season has to offer; Introducing our new Autumn/Winter Menus!
New Lunch & Dinner Menu
Head Chef Ivor and his skilled team of chefs have created a stunning new menu available Wednesday to Saturday lunchtimes and evenings. This menu showcases the best these seasons have to offer with exciting new dishes made from delicious fresh ingredients.
Our stunning new starters include Wild Mushroom Parfait with madeira jelly, black truffle, shimeji mushrooms, red vein sorrel and locally baked bread, and Asian Style Ham Hock & Leek Terrine served with nashi pear, lotus fruit crisp, purple shiso cress and Asian BBQ sauce – both available to upgrade as a lighter main should you only fancy a modest meal!
Fancy something a little different for main course? Try our new Guinea Fowl Breast served with guinea fowl hash, kale, cauliflower puree and a rich roasting sauce. Or perhaps you like a little fish on your dish? Enjoy our new Roast Loin Of Monkfish with crushed white beans, pancetta, cavolo nero and roasted red wine fish sauce – very so-fish-ticated!
And you can’t get more autumnal than our new Roasted Pumpkin, Artichoke, Spinach & Gnocchi Ragu finished with black truffle and roasted pumpkin seed oil, suitable for vegetarians and vegans and is also gluten and dairy free – not to mention extremely tasty too!
Sunday Lunch Menu
Our new starters are also available on our Autumn/Winter Sunday Lunch Menu. You can savour our new Hertfordshire Honey Glazed Figs & Feta Cheese Bruschetta with walnut pesto and bitter endive leaves. Or try our oriental inspired Bang Bang Chicken served with guacamole, pickled red cabbage slaw, puffed wild rice and coriander cress.
Of course our new Sunday Lunch Menu still offers our popular Traditional Sunday Roasts – it just wouldn’t be Sunday without them! Choose from Sirloin of Beef, Leg of Lamb, Loin of Pork and Chicken Supreme – all locally sourced from independent butchers – or our vegetarian Nut Roast (adaptable to vegan), all served with roast potatoes, roast parsnips, roasted glazed carrots, seasonal green vegetables, cauliflower cheese, Yorkshire pudding and roast gravy or vegan gravy.
But it’s not all roasts – alongside our popular Homemade Chargrilled Burger and the impressive ‘Black Horse’ Beer Battered Fish & Chips, we also offer our chef’s Fresh Fish of The Day, which changes each week depending on the catch!
New Dessert Menu
Still have room for pudding? Well grab a spoon and delve in to one or our delicious new desserts; indulge in our Blackberry & Almond Tart served with blackberry jam and chocolate stout ice cream, or comfort yourself with a Warm Spiced Apple Cake with toffee sauce and vegan toasted almond ice cream – perfect on those chilly days.
These are just a taster of the tantalising new dishes we have on offer. View the full menus below:
