Hi Jean,

Just to let you know that our friends have finally visited The Black Horse to redeem our surprise voucher gift to them of a meal for 2. They went on Saturday and had a super meal with, great service and a lovely evening out. The staff were wonderful playing along with the subterfuge and kept the note until they had finished. Your wording of the letter kept my friends guessing right to the end. They even kept glancing round at other diners to see if there were any they recognised!! It all worked very well.Thank you for your help in this and I will drop a note to the manager to say thank you to everyone involved at The Black Horse,

I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed both my lunch on 4th (which was my birthday date) and dinner on 5th. It was really lovely and the great service and faultless food made this a very special weekend for me.Keep up the good work and please pass on my best wishes to all the team. Hello,

just to say thank you so much for a lovely welcome and fantastic food for our joint birthdays. The pub is just beautiful and perfect for a meal and of a very high standard. …… rather embarrassingly, when we got into our car I thought I had still got hold of our birthday cards but a little further down the road it transpired that perhaps they slipped out of my lap as I closed the car door they fell onto your driveway!!! Apologies for this!!!!!

My intention was not to litter your car park! We will be returning for a “lighter” meal in the not too distant future and wish you and all your staff a very Merry Xmas!!!!

Sorry again for the accidental card loss….. it was such a lovely touch

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to say “thank you” for a wonderful stay at The Black Horse on the night of Friday 5th November 2010. I also want to say that we had a wonderful meal that evening too. Your staff were both pleasant and professional and your accommodation was outstanding. I was particularly impressed by your waiters/waitresses knowledge of all the meals (ingredients, etc), and the enthusiasm with which they described the food. Both my boyfriend and I get to stay in some lovely places throughout the year and I undertake a lot of site visits as part of my job, and I can honestly say that a number of establishments could learn a lot from the all the nice touches in your chalet rooms. We particularly appreciated the large umbrella by the front door and never expected to see a trouser press! Your set up for breakfast was great and meant that we ate at our convenience rather than yours – that really is putting the customer first.I dined with you a number of years ago for my Mothers 60th birthday. It was very good then – you’re great now!

Dear All at the Black Horse,

Just a little email to say thank you for a fabulous meal!We came to your restaurant on the 1st October to celebrate my Mum’s birthday. I would just like to say thank you very much for making it such a special evening for her. She was very impressed by the excellent service and the whole family really enjoyed the food. The staff were sooo friendly and made a real fuss of Mum and she had a great evening and especially liked the birthday card you left for her on the table.

Dear Jean, Would you kindly pass on to the management and staff our grateful thanks for making our celebration so special yesterday. We have had nothing but praise for the way everything was managed on the day from the wonderful menu, the beautiful food and the professionalism of your staff. Nothing was too much trouble. With a large party which included children things sometimes get hairy but you dealt with everything to perfection. My daughter-in-law who has a year old baby was very impressed with the effort that was made towards making the children happy with toys, games etc. They live in Londay and visit a lot of restaurants but very seldom are they offered anything to amuse my grandson.

We look forward to coming to see you again soon but next time we will be a much smaller party!Again a big thank you to you all.

My son Scott, and his lovely wife Gillian, arranged a surprise 60th birthday meal for me at your restaurant on 1st May 2010. Everything about it was excellent – the food, the service, the ambience, the well-stocked wine cellar and superb brandy. Little touches like the personalised birthday card just topped off a wonderful evening. My wife and I had a marvellous time and look forward to visiting you again when we are next in the area. Unfortunately, we live in East Yorkshire otherwise we’d be eating there on a very regular basis!

Thanks again, everyone, for making it a night to remember.
